A soldier who shot dead 26 individuals as been murdered by police after an overnight siege in a Thai shopping mall.
Eight individuals were held hostage by the gunman from the city of Nkhon Ratchasim, according to sources quoted by Reuters. Dozens more were trapped for hours Saturday night as authorities tried to recover control of this seven-floor building.
One police officer had been murdered during the raid, it had been verified. “He was struck and sadly he couldn’t create this,” stated Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s health minister.

The attack started late Saturday day once the gunman fired people at a military barracks, killing the controlling officer of the 22nd Ammunition Battalion, where the defendant also functioned. CCTV images revealed the gunman walking through a vacant part of the mall carrying a gun and dressed in his soldier’s uniform.
